Private 4-Day Desert Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga
Departure at 7:00 a.m. from Marrakech to start our journey to the Dades Gorges.
We will cross the Tizi-n-Tichka Atlas pass. It offers stunning mountain views. Then, we'll visit the High Atlas Berber village of Telouet. Next, we'll visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a spectacular fortified village (Ksar).
You'll have lunch at Aït Benhaddou or Ouarzazate. Then, we'll continue to the Dades Valley, where we'll spend the night in a riad or hotel.
After breakfast, we go from Dades Gorges to the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert in Merzouga. Scattered along the way, people have established Berber villages. We'll pass through Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud. There, we'll feel the start of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. Then, we continue to Merzouga. After a few minutes of rest, we will ride the camels waiting to take us on an adventure in the dunes. We will spend the night in a camp (Nomad Berber tents) with drumming in the Sahara. It's a great chance to take photos of the sunset and sunrise. We will go to a high dune to watch the sunset when we arrive. Then, we will sleep in the nomad tents.
After seeing the sunrise in the desert, we took the camels back to Merzouga. After breakfast and a shower in the hotel, we began our journey to Ouarzazate. We went via Draa Valley. We passed through the Saghro mountains' Berber villages and the old kasbahs of Agdez. We arrived in Ouarzazate in the evening at the hotel.
Before leaving Ouarzazate in the morning, we will visit the UNESCO site of Ait Ben Haddou. The most impressive Kasbah and well-preserved fortress in Morocco. Many filmmakers filmed movies here, such as Gladiator. After leaving Ait Ben Haddou. Head to the Atlas Mountains via Ounila Valley. Have lunch in the villages of Telouet. Next, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains. We'll take the highest road pass in Morocco, Tizni Tichka (2260m). It offers impressive views of valleys, mountains, and nearby Berber villages. We will arrive in the evening in Marrakech.
